About the Author Working with contemplative patience amid the sound of flowing water, Michael Grab achieves impossible stone structures with gravity as his only glue. Although steady hands, slow breathing, patience, and problem solving are carefully honed skills essential to his craft, Michael's work relies more on his ability to still his mind and tune in to the nature of the rocks and his surroundings. He has been pursuing the art of balancing rocks professionally since 2012, traveling extensively around the world, creating his pieces at various international festivals and events, and capturing his otherwise ephemeral artwork in stunning photographs. Balance. Somehow these stones are balanced by gravity alone. The photographs are likewise balanced in their composition. If I'm stuck indoors, it's nice to ground myself in this land art. Each Land Art calendar has featured a single artist/medium. Michael Grab is the 2018 artist for Gravity Glue. Andres Amador did Beach Murals for 2017, while Dietmar Voorwold did 2016's Creations in Nature. All have been beautiful.
